Annamaria Kowalsky, born in Coburg, is an Austrian-Croatian composer, musician, and artist. Raised in a family of musicians, she began violin lessons at an early age and later studied viola at the Carinthian State Conservatory and the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, graduating in 2014. In parallel, she specialized in early music and the viola d’amore, and earned her doctorate in philosophy from the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna in 2018.
Alongside her musical career, she developed as a photographer and painter, increasingly creating abstract watercolor works. As a visual artist, she designed projections for On Air productions of classical symphonies in 2021 and kaleidoscopic visuals for three world premieres of her works in New York in 2022.
Annamaria Kowalsky, geb. in Coburg, ist eine österreichisch-kroatische Komponistin, Musikerin und Künstlerin. Aufgewachsen in einer Musikerfamilie, erhielt sie früh Violin- und später Violaausbildung am Kärntner Landeskonservatorium und an der Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien, wo sie 2014 abschloss. Parallel spezialisierte sie sich auf Alte Musik und Viola d’amore und promovierte 2018 an der Akademie der bildenden Künste Wien.
Neben ihrer musikalischen Laufbahn entwickelte sie sich als Fotografin und Malerin, wobei sie zunehmend abstrakte Aquarellarbeiten schuf. Als visuelle Künstlerin gestaltete sie 2021 Projektionen für On-Air-Produktionen klassischer Symphonien und 2022 kaleidoskopische Visuals für drei Uraufführungen ihrer Werke in New York.
